Dr. Fabiano Oliveira graduated as medical doctor at Federal University of Bahia, Brazil and after that enrolled in a PhD program in human pathology at Fiocruz, Brazil in collaboration with the NIH – NIAID – LMVR. He became a post-doc at the Laboratory of Malaria and Vector research under Dr. Jesus G Valenzuela and was later promoted to staff scientist. He has been at the NIH for 22 years and now holds a CORE Staff (associate) scientist position. Dr. Fabiano Oliveira has 100 peer reviewed publications, and his interests lie on mitigating vector borne diseases, by exploiting the vector components, especially salivary protein that impact the host-parasite dynamics.
