International Vaccine InstituteIn-Kyu Yoon, M.D. is based in Bethesda, Maryland, USA serving as Senior Scientific Advisor, Director General’s Office, for the International Vaccine Institute (IVI). He has previously served as Executive Director of R&D (acting) at the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI); Director and Global Head of Programmes and Innovative Technology at CEPI; Deputy Director General of Science at IVI in Seoul, South Korea; Director of the Global Dengue & Aedes-Transmitted Diseases Consortium (GDAC) and Dengue Vaccine Initiative (DVI); and Chief of Virology at the U.S. Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (AFRIMS) in Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Yoon has conducted research on infectious diseases including dengue, Zika, chikungunya, MERS and influenza, and has authored over 140 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has overseen vaccine development programs for multiple diseases in international settings, and has led public health initiatives in support of vaccine introduction efforts. Dr. Yoon graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Paleobiology from Yale University, and received his Doctor of Medicine from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Allergy/Immunology at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, USA.
