Jaime A. Cardona-Ospina, MD, MSc, is a Colombian physician-scientist, Fulbright Scholar, Assistant Professor at Institución Universitaria Visión de las Américas (Pereira, Colombia), and PhD candidate in Infectious Diseases and Immunity at the University of California, Berkeley under the mentorship of Dr. Eva Harris. His doctoral work has identified that post-Zika anti-NS1 IgA antibodies drive neutrophil activation and are associated with subsequent severe dengue disease. His work in Colombia has characterized the local evolution and spread of dengue virus in western Colombia and established longitudinal studies of pregnant women in Risaralda to investigate susceptibility and immunity to dengue, Zika and other flaviviruses.
