Ruian Ke is a staff scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), where he leads a research group dedicated to developing mathematical and machine learning models to study virus transmission, virus-immune system interactions, and viral evolution across multiple biological scales-ranging from the cellular and within-host levels to the population level. He has extensive experience working with diverse viral systems, including HIV, influenza, dengue virus, and SARS-CoV-2. His research is highly collaborative, integrating closely with experimentalists and clinicians to tackle fundamental biological, clinical, and epidemiological questions.
Prior to joining LANL, Dr. Ke was a tenure-track assistant professor of mathematics at North Carolina State University from 2015 to 2018. He earned his Ph.D. from Imperial College London and completed postdoctoral training at the University of California, Los Angeles, and at LANL.
