Shirin Kalimuddin is a Senior Consultant Infectious Disease physician at the Singapore General Hospital and a faculty member with the Program in Emerging Infectious Diseases at Duke-NUS Medical School. As a physician-scientist trained in infectious diseases, public health, and viral immunology, her research integrates clinical epidemiology, immunology, and experimental medicine to advance understanding of the host immune response to viral infections and inform vaccine development. Her current research focuses on the role of cell-mediated immunity in orthoflaviviral infections such as dengue. This work has led to novel findings demonstrating the ability of T cells to mediate viral control independently of neutralizing antibodies, offering important insights for next-generation vaccine design. Dr. Kalimuddin is a recipient of the Singapore National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Research Fellowship, as well as the NMRC Transition Award.
